In December 2020, NBI specialists completed work on expanding the optimization system functionality at generating facilities of PJSC "TGC-1"'s "Nevsky" branch. The project involved: Severnaya CHPP-21, Pravoberezhnaya CHPP-5, Pervomayskaya CHPP-14, Yuzhnaya CHPP-22, Tsentralnaya CHPP, Vasileostrovskaya CHPP-7, Avtovskaya CHPP-15, Vyborgskaya CHPP-17.
Project goal:improvement and expansion of the Wholesale Electricity and Capacity Market optimization information system functionality.
The following work was completed as part of the functionality improvement and expansion:
1. Created functionality for displaying optimization results on mimic diagrams (Severnaya CHPP-21, Yuzhnaya CHPP-22, Pravoberezhnaya CHPP-5, Pervomayskaya CHPP-14).
2. The DAM business process optimization calculation functionality was supplemented with variational calculations according to the Customer's required criteria, allowing assessment of the financial feasibility of choosing particular solutions.
3. Prompt replacement of source data for Severnaya CHPP-21 and Pravoberezhnaya CHPP-5 after technical upgrades of the stations.
4. Additional validation of incoming district heating network data reliability was configured, required due to specific features of the heating scheme.
5. Created functionality for automatic loading and updating of regulatory and technical characteristics used in the model, allowing the User to update characteristics with "one click" as equipment technical condition changes, and to select versioning of characteristics used for calculations (in progress).
6. Created functionality for calculating long-term production programs based on existing models of all eight stations, allowing the User to quickly calculate annual production indicators, considering forecasted heat supply, intraday DAM price variations, and actual technical condition of main station equipment for further business planning, with generation of report forms approved within the Customer's company (in progress).
Result: Successful expansion of the Wholesale Electricity and Capacity Market optimization information system functionality
Customer: PJSC "TGC-1" - leading producer of electric and thermal energy in Russia's Northwestern region.
The "Nevsky" branch (Leningrad region and St. Petersburg) currently concentrates the main part of the company's production capacity. The thermal power plants of the branch are strategic sources of thermal energy for residents and businesses of St. Petersburg. The company's share in the city's thermal energy market exceeds 50%. Most stations operate on environmentally friendly gas fuel.
