In December 2016, JSC "NBI" completed the implementation of the EMAS.OPT optimization system and the "EMAS.TRADE" decision support system for operations in the wholesale electricity market at LLC "Nizhnekamsk CHPP", a subsidiary of PJSC "Tatneft".
During project implementation, the following tasks were set and successfully solved:
− Automated search for optimal operating modes of main and auxiliary generating equipment according to specified optimization criteria based on mathematical techno-economic model for marginal income maximization
− Input and storage of regulatory reference information;
− Automated collection, primary processing and storage of technical and commercial information data;
− Automation of financial indicator operations in the wholesale electricity market;
− Automation of regulatory calculations procedures for the wholesale electricity market;
− Implementation of management decision support functions;
− Analysis of obtained data and creation of reporting system in various temporal and object dimensions.
As a result, the customer gained the ability to optimally plan plant operation modes across various wholesale market planning sectors. Additionally, a wholesale market decision support and analytics module was implemented, as well as a commercial dispatching module enabling real-time distribution of electrical and thermal loads.
One of the main constraints in project implementation was very tight deadlines, but despite this being the first experience of integrating an optimization system with external systems, the work was completed on time with proper quality.
Facility: LLC "Nizhnekamsk CHPP" began independent operations as a 100% subsidiary of PJSC "Tatneft" and is a full participant of the wholesale electricity and capacity market (WECM), as well as one of the suppliers of thermal and electric energy in the Republic of Tatarstan since June 1, 2010.
Client: PJSC "Tatneft" - one of Russia's largest oil companies, a vertically integrated holding. The company's production complex includes dynamically developing oil and gas production, oil refining, petrochemicals, tire manufacturing complex and gas station network.
